Feeling nervous about dental treatment is more common than you think

Many people delay dental visits because of fear, stress, or past experiences. Sometimes it’s the sound of the tools. Sometimes it’s the thought of sitting in the chair for a long time. For others, it’s simply anxiety that starts days before the appointment. IV sedation dentistry can help make those visits feel much easier. It’s designed for patients who want to feel deeply relaxed during treatment while still being safely monitored the entire time. Many people who once avoided the dentist completely find that IV sedation changes the experience in a positive way and helps them finally move forward with the care theyΒ need.

What IV sedation dentistry actually means

IV sedation is a type of sedation given through a small line placed in the arm or hand. It works quickly and allows the level of sedation to be adjusted throughout the appointment if needed. Patients usually feel relaxed, drowsy, and less aware of the treatment taking place. Most people remain responsive, but they often remember little or nothing afterward. That’s one of the reasons it’s so popular for patients with strong dental anxiety. It can also be helpful during longer or more complex procedures when staying relaxed for an extended time makes the visit much more manageable from start toΒ finish.

Who may benefit from IV sedation

IV sedation can be a wonderful option for many different patients. It’s often chosen by people with moderate to severe dental anxiety, sensitive gag reflexes, or difficulty sitting comfortably through longer visits. It may also help if you need multiple treatments completed in one appointment and would rather avoid several separate visits. Some patients simply prefer to feel less aware during dental work, and that’s understandable too. Every person is different, so we look at your medical history, comfort level, and treatment needs before recommending whether IV sedation is the right fit for you and yourΒ situation.

What to expect on the day of treatment

Before your appointment, we’ll provide you clear instructions so you know how to prepare. Once you arrive, our team reviews everything with you and answers any last questions. During treatment, we carefully monitor you the entire time while making sure you stay comfortable. Because IV sedation can make you drowsy for a while afterward, you’ll need someone to drive you home. Most patients say the visit feels much shorter than expected. Many are surprised by how calm the overall experience feels compared to what they imagined beforehand, which often helps reduce future anxiety asΒ well.

Decided to give this office a try as I haven’t been to a dentist in a while bc of some bad visits other places and let me say this place changed my whole perspective. Dr. Melissa was excellent and thorough with everything. Jessica cleaned my teeth and did an amazing job. Both were very patient and made sure I was comfortable the entire time. I 100% recommend this dental office and they for sure have a return patient going forward!

I had such a great experience at this dental office!! Maggie is incredibly sweet and caring! She made me feel comfortable right away and took the time to walk me through everything she was doing. Dr. Hayer was just as amazing. He was very thorough when going over my X-rays and clearly explained a plan for my dental care moving forward. I also had fillings done, and the whole process was quick and completely painless. I felt zero anxiety during the procedure, and both Maggie and Dr. Hayer were both so reassuring throughout! The entire team was professional, kind, and welcoming. Overall, one of the best dental experiences I’ve ever had. I highly recommend this office if you’re looking for a place that truly prioritizes comfort and care!

So glad I found this dental office. They are kind, efficient and reasonably priced. The check in process is simple, and I was able to schedule my consultation online without having to call anyone, which is a huge plus for me. I’ve been there twice now and haven’t had to wait long to be called back. The office is pleasant and inviting with comfortable seating in the waiting area. I’ve seen Dr. Hayer and Maggie both visits and I’ve never had such gentle work done in my mouth. There is a TV to watch while having dental work done and soothing music played, too. I originally came here for a second opinion and ultimately got my crowns done here and have made this my dentist for preventive care as well.

My recent appointment was a very positive experience. While I've been to this office many times, this was my first occasion meeting Dhara who did my cleaning. She is very kind, funny, and personable. She calmly and clearly explained my treatment plan along with the associated costs. Dhara even gave me toothbrush recommendations and did a great job at easing my nerves and making me feel very comfortable. She is very professional, efficient, and answered all of my questions. Thank you!
